About NCHS

The Nunavut Cultural Heritage Society (NCHS) is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and celebration of Inuit language and culture.

 

 

Our Goals

The Nunavut Cultural Heritage Society has identified the following goals: 

Inuit Language Advocacy

To protect and advance the Inuit language, assisting Inuit individually and collectively to meet their educational goals and supporting the educational components of Inuit language revitalization;

Cultural and Linguistic Awareness

To promote awareness, understanding and appreciation for Inuit culture and language through community-based educational events, outreach programs, trainings, resource development, and workshops;

Building Capacity

To strengthen and support the professional, artistic, and linguistic capacity of Nunavut Inuit, building strong individuals and communities;

Supporting Inuit Leadership

To support Inuit-led initiatives that reflect the culture, language, values, histories, and traditions of Nunavut;

Self-Determination

To engage Nunavummiut as partners in the development of our programming, ensuring the future of Nunavut and Inuit is self-determined.
